Call For Abstracts
Abstracts are now sought on health interventions or research which
impacts gay and bisexual men’s sexual health and wellbeing
from all sectors, both within Scotland and internationally. Topic
areas include, but are not limited to:
- Developing appropriate sexual
health services
- Sharing innovative work
- Translating research and evidence into
practice
- Community engagement
- Health promotion/interventions
- Settings for reaching/targeting
specific groups of men
- Work with, or relating to, the health and
wellbeing of gay & bisexual
men living with HIV
Four presentation formats will be used at the conference - academic/scientific,
descriptive (models of practice), interactive sessions and poster
presentations. Exhibition stand space will also be available.
Innovative methods of delivering presentations are welcomed.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
ACADEMIC/SCIENTIFIC PRESENTATIONS
Best suited to academic or scientific
research presentations.
- Title of Presentation
- Author(s): names and organisations (please
identify the presenting author and let us know if there will
be more than one speaker for
the presentation).
- Introduction: The study objectives
or description of the issue addressed in the presentation.
- Methods:
Methods or approach used.
- Results: Specific results with appropriate
analysis.
- Conclusions: Main outcome of the study or presentation.
DESCRIPTIVE PRESENTATIONS
Best suited to descriptive presentations
(e.g. models of best practice, experience of service delivery,
examples of innovative projects
and interventions).
- Title of Presentation
- Author(s): names and organisations (please
identify the presenting author and let us know if there will
be more than one speaker for
the presentation).
- Introduction: summary of the project
being described or issue being addressed.
- Description: description
of the project, experience or service.
- Lessons learned: description
of the results of the project.
- Recommendations: Statement of next
steps or how experience could be disseminated.
These presentations will be combined in themed conference sessions;
each including 2 or 3 presentations followed by time for questions
from the audience. You will have 15 minutes for your presentation.
INTERACTIVE SESSIONS
Space for interactive sessions (approx 90 minutes)
will be available at the conference. These sessions are intended
to involve facilitated
group work, allowing for the active participation of delegates.
If you would like to organise an interactive session, please
submit the following information:
- Title of Interactive Session
- Facilitators(s): names and organisations
(you would be expected to facilitate the interactive session
you propose).
- Objective: aims and objectives of the interactive
session.
- Description: description of the topic and format of the
interactive session and how you propose to involve the participants.
- Participants:
maximum number of participants.
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Space for poster presentations will be available
at the conference. Posters are intended to cover key points of
the research work,
provide a brief overview of the work; and initiate discussion
and question during a short time frame. If you wish to submit a poster
please provide the following information:
- Author(s): names and organisations
- Introduction: summary of the
project being described or issue being addressed.
- Description:
description of the project, experience or service.
- Lessons learned:
description of the results of the project.
- Recommendations: Statement
of next steps or how experience could be disseminated.
Please
note that the poster will have to be staffed at set points
during the conference.
EXHIBITION STANDS
Limited exhibition space will be available at the
conference to enable organisations to showcase their work without
giving formal presentations
or workshops. If you would like to request an exhibition stand,
please submit the following information:
- Organisation: name of organisation and details of what
you do.
- Contact: name and email address of contact person
re exhibition stand.
- Stand content: description of what
you would display and include with your stand.
- Duration:
if would like stand for 1 or 2 days of conference and which
day if 1 day only.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The abstract text should not exceed 250 words.
Please also tell us what your audio / visual requirements will
be (PowerPoint, overhead
projector, TV / DVD / video). All submissions must include full
contact details for the presenting author, workshop facilitator or
exhibition
stand contact. Abstracts can only be submitted via email.

2nd June 2008.
